RECYCLING INDUSTRY COUNCIL ESTABLISHED

Mr. Mihail Mateski, general manager of Greentech Ltd. Novi Sad, is the elected president for the newly established Recycling Industry Council with the Serbian Chamber of Commerce’s Environmental Protection Committee.

The inaugural meeting of Recycling Industry Council with the Serbian Chamber of Commerce’s Environmental Protection Committee saw the Rules of Procedures adoption, with Mr. Mihail Mateski, general manager of Greentech Ltd. Novi Sad and the original Council establishment initiator, being elected the Council president.

According to Mr. Sinisa Mitrovic, the Council coordinator and advisor to the Chamber of Commerce president, Republic of Serbia adopted a number of major environmental laws as well as special regulations in accordance with EU legislation. This has put significant strain on the Serbian industry, with inadequate recycling industry capacity at the same time. It is therefore determined necessary to establish the Recycling Industry Council with the Serbian Chamber of Commerce to address waste flow, export and import licenses, investments, subsidies, charges, credit lines, taxations and financial management issues. The Council will further contribute to the Recycling Industry becoming one of the leaders in the green technology field, stated Mr. Mitrovic.

The inaugural session gathered around a hundred entrepreneurs from the entire Serbia supporting the establishment of such Serbian Chamber of Commerce entity. Council is important for their market status, and should establish itself as resolving coordinator for the issues related to metal and chemical industry, energy, mining, as well as to regulate the environmental management issues. Mr. Mitrovic further stated that one of the following sessions would be devoted to tenders for secondary raw materials purchase originating from the public utility companies.

The next Recycling Industry Council session would see the election of the Deputy President as well as eleven Council members
