EXIT YOUR WASTE – Recycling Promotion @ EXIT Music Festival

fotoGreentech Ltd Novi Sad and Recan Foundation representatives were invited by the EXIT Music Festival organizers to participate at the two day GO GROUP (Green Operations Europe) conference, with Europe's largest music festival organizers presenting their experiences, sustainable development opportunities, as well as environmentally sanctified approach of the creative industries’ important segment.

The most impressive presentation was certainly made by the world's largest festival representatives, Glastonbury Festival, taking place in a field a couple of miles from the nearest settlement, the area being an actual cattle farm over the rest of the year. Glastonbury festival founders are therefore dedicated to preserving the environment applying various green solutions in order to prevent staging area’s ecosystem disturbance. This means that the solar panels are responsible for the festival power requirements, waste is being collected/recycled, with the festival toilets content used for soil fertilization. The festival has own green police service (cheerful and likeable, naturally), organic food market, as well as several environmental campaigns – with the most notable being "Love Your Farm, Leave No Trace". Glastonbury Festival is certainly one of the Greenpeace movement largest individual donors.

GO GROUP guests Interesting expositions have encouraged domestic green team to rethink the EXIT Festival environmental footprint improvement. To that end Greentech and Recan have this year organized PET bottles and aluminum cans collection at several locations within the Petrovaradin fortress, with this year's the most important segment being the packaging waste primary selection and recycling promotion organized in a festive spirit. Namely, Greentech and Recan mascots (Tin Man and PETcos), dressed in the recycled material made costumes, not only cheered the EXIT Festival audience, but educated visitors regarding the recycling importance through number of interesting games and prizes. Examinees were asked to guess PET fiber origin, number of years required for PET bottles dissolution, and the total recycling cycles for aluminum cans, with the most successful answers awarded with apples and peaches. Green team scored a total Exit Festival hit, with visitors wanting to take pictures, touch plastic bag made skirts, and our promoters finding themselves the targets of number of media following the festival events. Both GO GREEN conference and this year's Festival positive experiences do oblige us to make even more serious commitment for the next year’s event, making the region’s most important festival more "green".
